Weekend French Classes
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and keeping up with the Health Ministry’s social distancing guidelines, we have moved our Weekend French Classes online for the school year 2020/2021.
The Weekend French Classes for children are offered during the school year to complement the French studies of your child in school. You can join anytime during the school year! We provide personal attention with a small ratio of 1 to 5 and aim to help them improve in 4 critical areas: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. Some of the great benefits of this program are:
- Students are grouped by French skill level
- Multimedia, a powerful learning tool, is used to keep students engaged
- Provides a great French-esque social environment
- Coaching sessions and French cultural activities are carried out weekly to motivate students to keep learning French
- Weekly routine provides learning consistency
- A personal bond is created between the mentor and the student

Sing-Along – Beginners (Gr 1 French Immersion in Peel; Gr 2 French Immersion in Halton; SK to Grade 3 English Track) – 1 hour 20 minutes
This program is meant to develop vocabulary, pronunciation, and build foundational knowledge. Since singing and music are very entertaining and interactive, we picked a great selection of educational songs to keep them engaged. Children are encouraged to sway and repeat out loud to match the rhythm and lyrics of songs. The groups repeat the songs together, attempt to memorize some of the lyrics, and participate in academic activities linked to the theme of the day (body parts, vegetables, months of the year..) in an effort to build vocabulary.
Learning Out Loud (LoL) – Gr 2 to Gr 7 French Immersion or French schools or Extended French – 1 hour 20 minutes
This program offers creative writing, reading comprehension, spelling, conjugation, and conversational time, which will not only help the students improve their French but also give them an edge at school. A French coaching session (dance, yoga, art…) of approximately 10 minutes is used weekly to encourage students in their pursuit of French! Read, Write, Speak, Listen!
Read-Along – Gr 1 to Gr 5 French Immersion or French School – 55 minutes
Children will partake in an intensive reading program with an emphasis on pronunciation and reading comprehension to help students become independent readers. They will have the chance to improve their oral skills and expression through a wide variety of materials which include images, videos and presentations. Even though there might be a writing component to the program, this class primarily focuses on developing reading and speaking skills in order to develop confidence in oral speaking abilities.
Core French – Gr 4 to Gr 8 Regular English Stream or Extended French – 1 hour 20 minutes
This program is meant to give students a stronger foundation in their French language skills. Part of the class involves learning/studying a weekly French song in order to understand the French sentence structure as well as to improve basic vocabulary and reading. Other activities, such as creative writing, sentence building, vocabulary enrichment, and spelling, will boost students’ confidence in their ability to understand texts and stories which will give them a great academic advantage.
Little Sing-Along – 3 to 4 yrs – 55 minutes
This program is meant to develop listening skills, vocabulary, and pronunciation of the French language. Children are encouraged to follow the mentors and sway rhythmically and repeat out loud to match the rhythm and lyrics of songs. The groups repeat the songs together, attempt to memorize the words and lyrics, and participate in craft activities linked to the theme of the day, in an effort to improve pronunciation. Research has shown a powerful link between sounds, and memory retention. Singing will use a combination of both, the entertainment value, and the sensory interactions, to enhance memorization by using repetition of words that are used to construct phrases and sentences.

Cancellation Policy
Before you make a decision to withdraw/cancel from the program, we’d recommend you reconsider given the fact that results of learning a language are felt long term. However, if a family chooses to withdraw a student from the weekend French Classes, they are required to do so no later than 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the commencement of the second term, which starts February 8/9, 2020. If required, a payment adjustment will be processed at that time.
For cancellation purposes only, the 32 weeks of the weekend French classes are divided into 2 terms:
Term 1: 16 weeks from September 21/22, 2019 to February 1/2, 2020
Term 2: 16 weeks from February 8/9, 2020 to June 21/22, 2020.
There will be no refund or cancelation possible after February 2020.
